Born out of a lifelong passion for remote aircraft, Clogworks Technologies Limited was officially founded in 2014.
With a love for technology from an early age its founder, Peter Opdam, worked on creating a brand that would allow professionals to rely on the very best solutions to deliver ultimate performance and reliability in the world of unmanned aerial vehicles.
The company was founded by husband and wife team, Peter and Laurence, in a Yorkshire village nestled deep in the "Last of The Summer Wine" country.
Both directors have many years of experience in research & development in different fields (software, manufacturing and materials science) and have refined the process of in-house design, rapid prototyping and manufacturing of precision engineered products for Clogworks® unmanned aerial systems. The Dark Matter® brandname was chosen as it encapsulates everything we stand for.
This expertise and refinement led to the development of various multi-rotor prototypes of different capabilities. In 2016, Clogworks Technologies launched their first refined multi-rotor, the Dark Matter® hX. In 2019, our quadcopter, the Dark Matter® qD, was released. Last year, both platforms were upgraded, as they benefitted from more R&D and years of testing, and relaunched as the second generation of the Dark Matter® hX and qD, our "Gen 2".
With the same great passion and drive we continue to develop exciting new and innovative high-performance unmanned aerial vehicles and other products for the future!
We specialise in delivering the best UAV solutions to pilots in the industrial, security, commercial and surveying sectors as well as many others, and we combine our passion for UAVs, great customer relations and innovation to deliver the perfect solution from design to flight training.
Our Dark Matter platforms have been trusted by pilots for over seven years and our in-house manufacturing and expertise allow us to integrate virtually any payload or sensor.

Our premises are based in a rural location near Holmfirth. The building itself has a strong engineering history with David Brown (owner of Aston Martin at the time) who used to have a research centre here in the 60s. We cannot have a better example to aspire to!
